A Month of Meaningful Progress
This past month brought Project Recover to the field, to ceremony, and to community. We participated in international fieldwork, honored those who have waited decades to come home, and shared our mission with new
audiences. Each step forward reflects the commitment you've shown to this work, and we're grateful.
Welcoming Home SSG John H. Danneker On August
26, we joined the family of Staff Sergeant John H. Danneker at Arlington National Cemetery for his interment with full military honors. Missing since 1944, SSG Danneker was finally laid to rest after Project Recover located his aircraft off
the coast of Denmark in 2021. It was a solemn privilege to be present as he was welcomed home.

Mission Miles 2025 – Your Impact in Action This year's Mission Miles campaign raised
$44,795—a 4.8% increase from 2024. Hundreds of you walked, ran, biked, and
rucked to honor the 81,000 American service members still missing in action. Every mile logged and every contribution made supports our continuing effort to search for, recover, and help bring these individuals home.
On the Ground in Italy – Battle of San Pietro Infine Our volunteer team members spent
two weeks in Italy this September, working alongside the Battle of San Pietro Infine Project Group on archaeological efforts related to the WWII battlefield. Following this collaboration, our team is continuing investigative and survey work in the region. We were especially glad to have longtime team member Scott Althaus join us for his first mission since the repatriation of his own relative—a meaningful reminder of why this work continues.
National POW/MIA Recognition Day On September
19, we hosted a program at the U.S. Navy Memorial featuring a first look at our film Path to Heaven, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A. The day offered a chance to reflect on the mission and the sacrifices of those still unaccounted for.
Sharing Our Work – Military Influencers Conference Our CEO, Derek Abbey, spoke at the Military Influencers Conference in Atlanta this month, sharing Project Recover's approach, progress, and mission. Opportunities like these help us connect with individuals and organizations who share our commitment to accounting for America's missing.
Moving Forward Together From Mission Miles to fieldwork in Italy, from ceremonies at Arlington to conversations in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., September reminded us that this mission moves forward because of your support. Thank you for standing with Project Recover. We remain committed to the work ahead.
