It has been a busy summer and fall for us, from our 5-week Palau documentation and recovery mission, a collaborative mission in Italy, and an upcoming research mission in Germany. We just
wrapped up our annual fundraiser, and are preparing to head to Kingwood, WV for the homecoming and burial of LT Jay Manown, Jr. Italy and Germany Missions In September, a small Project Recover team joined Battlefield Archaeology Group in Italy, supporting efforts to survey sites related to the World War II Battle of San Pietro. Our team members were able to hone their field skills while also contributing to our expansion of efforts related to missing-in-action infantry service members.
Team member, Michelle Hagstrom, working an archaeological dig site at San Pietro Infine. In October, Project Recover will send a team to Germany for the first time. This research mission will focus on building local relationships and gathering
information related to World War II losses in the Northeast region of the country. It is expected that Germany will become the next "campaign" country for Project Recover, meaning we will build several future missions based on information gathered during this initial mission. Mission Miles Challenge Raises
$50,000 We walked, hiked, ran, rucked and biked over 12,000 miles in honor of America's MIAs, and raised over $50,000 in support of the mission to find and bring them home!
A big thank you to the enthusiastic participation of the entire Mission Miles 2024 team, Team Captains, and our generous donors! Pickleball for MIAs led the way with the highest mileage count (total and per person!), $5000+ in fundraising, and a most unique way of

Foundation Support We are grateful for the recent generous donations from The Douglas and Gloria Rumberger Foundation and The Hunt Family Foundation in support of the
Mission Miles campaign, helping us surpass our fundraising goal! We are also grateful for support from The Grainger Foundation and the 398th Bomb Group (H) Association. Your donations are helping us to broaden our
search and recovery efforts, supporting more military families, communities, and fellow service members. |
With Gratitude, Michelle Abbey Director of Community & Donor Relations Project Recover |
